Muslim woman Aisha, filed discrimination charges after a Target Starbucks barista wrote ‘ISIS’ on her cup.

A Muslimah had filed discrimination charges against Target for serving her a drink with ISIS written on her cup instead of her name. The 19-year-old Muslim is Aishah who felt that she was being targeted because of her religion.

A 19-year-old Muslimah named Aishah has filed a charge of discrimination against Target for serving her a drink, where it was written ISIS on her Cup instead of her name. She only revealed her first name because of fear. Aishah wears a hijab and expressed to CNN how she felt when she saw ISIS written on her Cup.

Aishah shared how she was emotional and felt humiliated as if she was being singled out for her religion. She said that this is not okay and something like this is not acceptable.

Aishah said that she was wearing a mask due to the present condition and gave her order by repeating her name several times. She even mentioned that she did not spell out Her name but she said that even though she repeated her name several times it is not possible to hear it as ISIS.

The incident took place at target Starbucks on 1st July. The employee said that she did not hear the name properly. After the charges were made Aishah was given $25 Starbucks Gift Card and the supervisor told Aishah that mistakes happen with the names of the customers.

Target replied to CNN through an email stating that they do not discriminate and harass people and apologized to Aishah. The spokesperson said that it was not done wanted but it was a mistake and said that they included training of the members so that such an incident does not happen again.

CAIR-MN’s executive director said that it is an Islamophobic comment and said that they should train their employees. The two Starbucks employees who are involved in the incident must be fired said CAIR-MN.
